A former federal agent believes there is hope in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance case. With the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie missing for over a month, it feels as though the search has hit a wall. Nancy was reported missing on February 1st after missing her usual church service on that Sunday.
Investigators have been desperate to piece together the tips coming in and evidence from Nancy’s security camera, among other things. Greg Rogers was a special agent with the FBI for years. He says that there are still lots of agents dealing with this matter who will “remain assigned to this case until it’s resolved.”
Has the Nancy Guthrie disappearance gone cold?

Gregg isn’t subscribing to the idea that investigators are at a dead end in Nancy’s disappearance. In an exclusive interview with Parade, he says, “I don’t believe the case has gone cold.” He says that there is no need for a tactical team at the moment. Greg notes that there are also tech agents focusing on the digital forensics of this matter. They are concentrating on cell tower searches.
Digital evidence might be the key to cracking this entire case. That’s Greg’s belief, while he thinks there’s a chance something will be uncovered from the cell phone tower. For him, the alleged kidnapper on Nancy’s doorbell camera “is no pro and hopefully left his phone on.”
Late last month, Savannah offered a $1 million reward to anyone with information that would help in this case. The former agent believes that might lead to someone coming forward very soon. “I have worked a number of cases where rewards made all the difference,” says Greg. Since making that plea, thousands of tips have been sent to the FBI.
A description of the alleged suspect was released weeks ago, thanks to forensic analysis. Several ransom notes had been sent to news outlets previously. Nancy is 84 and said to have heart problems.
