A renowned Canadian singer is sleeping with the enemy, or at least dating him. Tate McRae rose to fame on So You Think You Can Dance in 2016, before releasing hit songs like All the Things I Never Said. Her new boyfriend is not exactly a popular figure amongst Canadians these days.
Jack Hughes broke the hearts of Canadian hockey fans across the great white north, scoring the winning goal for the United States in overtime. The US wound up winning 2-1 over Canada. It was the first gold medal for the American men’s hockey team since 1980. A source says the two “are exclusively seeing each other.”

Instagram brought Jack and Tate together, and their relationship has only blossomed from there. An insider tells US Weekly exclusively that Jack “initially messaged her on IG and started a conversation.” The source adds that they casually started going out late last year before making it official, at least privately.
He and Tate were spotted in New York City late last year, following one of his hockey games. Jack plays for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL) taken first overall by the three-time Stanley Cup champions in the 2019 draft.
Finding time for one another has been tricky. Jack is just coming off his Olympic experience in Italy and is back to the season with the Devils. Tate, meanwhile, spent much of 2025 promoting her third album, So Close to What. Her song Just Keep Watching, from the F1 movie soundtrack, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording.
The two may have more time for each other in the months ahead. The Devils are currently the second-worst team in the NHL’s Eastern Conference an unlikely to make the playoffs when the regular season ends next month.
