David Del Rio’s termination is not going away quietly. The Matlock actor’s co-star, Leah Lewis, alleges sexual assault against him, leading to his firing last October.
David is taking CBS to court on that matter. His attorney Shawn Holley, claims that the allegations against his client are false. He believes that they have severely damaged his reputation and his ability to find work in the industry.
David Del Rio was fired from Matlock after an allegation of sexual assault

David isn’t going down without a fight. As part of his employment agreement with CBS, while working on Matlock, he must take his case to a private arbitrator instead of filing a public lawsuit. In a statement, his lawyer says that David has real-time texts and evidence which “directly contradicts prior public characterizations of the interaction at issue.”
At the time of his dismissal, seven episodes of the second season of Matlock had already been filmed. His character was subsequently written off the show. They did refer to his abrupt exit last week, and an HR rep asks where Billy is. David portrayed Billy Martinez, a first-year associate at the law firm Jacobson Moore. “Out sick. Very, very sick. Vomiting,” says Sarah Franklin on an episode about where Bill might be. Leah portrays Sarah on the show.
Shortly after his firing, David’s wife took to social media, slamming Leah for the allegations against her husband. Katherine expressed her disgust with Leah for the claims made about David. She and David began Theatre Row Productions, while producing its first feature The Big Feed.
David had risen to prominence working on films and live productions like Pitch Perfect and Grease Live! He and Katherine have two daughters, Lilia and Coco.
