Donald Trump Bought Netflix Debt Amid Fight for Warner Bros. With Paramount: Details

As Paramount is aiming to pry Warner Bros. away from the streaming service, Donald Trump is investing in Netflix.

Earlier this week, the streaming service had a deal to acquire the Hollywood Studios Warner Bros. Discovery fall apart at the eleventh hour. Paramount SkyDance ultimately made a superior bid of A$156 billion. Trump, meanwhile, continues to invest in the streaming platform as the company grows despite this setback.

Donald began 2026 by investing more in Netflix. Trump reportedly purchased between $600,000 and $1.25 million in Netflix debt in January, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That brings the total to $500,000 to $1 million that he invested in December.

His Netflix payments were two of a dozen that the real estate mogul invested in, according to purchases and sales he disclosed on Wednesday. Those filings were signed on February 26th, though the purchases went through on January 2nd and 20th. The new disclosure does not include the debt of Warner Bros. Discovery’s debt.

According to a White House official, the President’s investments are meant to replicate established indexes which neither Donald nor his family can direct, influence or provide input into.

The President’s latest investment is one of many big announcements he’s made this year. He held an accounts summit in January ahead of the opening of Trump accounts. Many celebrities attended that conference, including singer Nicki Minaj and Kevin O’Leary.

While Netflix chose not to raise its bid for Warner Bros., it did earn a $2.8 billion break-up fee. Donald has an ongoing financial relationship with Warner Bros. Last year, the President’s full financial disclosure included a $333.31 payment from Warner. That was a residual check from his past TV and film appearances. He previously appeared in the film Two Weeks Notice and the shows Suddenly Susan, and in the show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
