Doja Cat Shuts Down Timothée Chalamet After Ballet and Opera Comments

Timothée Chalamet is feeling the wrath of a highly influential singer online. The Marty Supreme star called out ballet and opera recently, saying he had no intention of delving into either of those fields.

According to the Golden Globe-winning actor, both industries are a dying breed that he claims no one cares about. Doja Cat fired back at the boyfriend of Kylie Jenner for dismissing two art forms that have been around for centuries. The 30-year-old singer still has a deep appreciation for opera and ballet.

Doja Cat took to social media with the perfect response

Suffice it to say, Doja and Timothée have different beliefs regarding ballet and opera. On her TikTok channel, Doja fired back at the actor. Among the many things she noted was that “opera is 400 years old, ballet is 500 years old.” Doja says what makes those two art forms unique is that audiences are virtually silent during either show. “There is an etiquette around opera. There is etiquette around ballet,” says Doja.

Doja believes the notion that both industries are struggling is not indicative of a dying art form. According to her, that may be the case in various industries at different times, including Hollywood. Even so, she says that people still care.

Late last month, Doja was reportedly dating NBA player Rui Hachimura. The Los Angeles Lakers forward was pictured with her before. The Japanese-born player dismissed these rumors.

Doja had a lot to say about Timothée’s comments, and some weren’t particularly kind. She suggested the Academy Award nominee should “shut the f*ck up.” By keeping his mouth shut, she thinks the youngster might learn a thing or two.

Timothée drew significant backlash for his remarks about the opera and ballet during a recent town hall. He was speaking alongside Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey when making those controversial comments.
