Donald Trump’s Granddaughter Criticized Over New ‘Secret Service’ Video

Kai Trump, the granddaughter of Donald Trump, is facing backlash after sharing a vlog that followers are calling “tone deaf” and out of touch with current events happening with Iran.

Kai Trump faces backlash for new YouTube video

The 18-year-old daughter of Donald Trump Jr. posted a YouTube video on March 8 documenting her shopping trip to Erewhon, an upscale Los Angeles supermarket known for its premium prices. The backlash stems from both her spending habits and her decision to feature her security detail in the content.

In the now-controversial video titled “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon,” Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai gave followers a glimpse into her California excursion. At the organic grocery chain, she sampled the store’s signature $22 Hailey Bieber-inspired strawberry smoothie and purchased a $128 Erewhon sweatshirt. Her total bill came to over $233.

While loading her cart, the influencer joked about the cost of her items. “I’m like about to go bankrupt with this stuff,” she said with a laugh toward the camera. Moments later, she doubled down, adding, “I’m gonna have to file for bankruptcy.” Viewers quickly called out the remark, pointing out the disconnect between her privileged lifestyle and average Americans struggling with inflation.

The criticism intensified given that her grandfather, Donald Trump, currently occupies the White House. Social media users flooded platforms with comments calling the video insensitive. On X, one person wrote, “Time to enlist, girly,” while another suggested she should “bring your secret service to boot camp.” A different user commented sarcastically, “Thank you for my daily dose of propaganda slop. I love capitalism! Yay.”

Some commenters directed anger at the use of taxpayer-funded protection for what they viewed as frivolous content creation. “So we are paying for your Secret Service protection so you can do videos at an expensive grocery store?” Another user wrote, “Please enlist into the United States military as soon as possible. Take Baron with you.”

Kai, who has amassed a major following across platforms, continues to share glimpses of her lifestyle despite the recent criticism.
