We might not have seen the last of Travis Kelce on the gridiron. At 36 and with everything he’s achieved in the NFL, many believed this off-season he’d finally call it quits. He’s won three Super Bowls in his illustrious career, while making it to the Pro Bowl 11 times.
Taylor Swift’s fiancé has suffered his share of injuries on the field. Even with all of the attention he’s gotten from his relationship and his TV appearances, Travis might not be ready to say goodbye to football just yet.
Travis Kelce is now expected to return for a 14th NFL season

The 2025 season may not be the last time we see Travis Kelce on a football field. It may, however, have spelt the end of his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Athletic reports that the superstar pass-catcher has his representatives prepared to talk to several NFL teams about him.
The Chiefs are the only team that Travis has known, but his contract with them will soon officially expire. Free agency in the NFL begins on Wednesday. The Athletic has Travis at 52nd on their list of top free agents and fifth among tight ends who could be available by then.
News of his return will come as a surprise. In November, Travis broke the Chiefs’ franchise record for all-time touchdowns in a losing effort against the Denver Broncos. Despite the loss, his brother Jason and his podcast co-host congratulated him on the achievement.
Kelce and the Chiefs missed the playoffs in the 2025 season after making it to three straight Super Bowls before that. The team’s CEO and owner, Clark Hunt, has said that he hopes to see him back for a 14th NFL season. Travis’s head coach, Andy Reid, added there has been communication, and they would like to see him back.
In 2025, Travis led the Chiefs with 851 receiving yards.
