Melania Trump Faces Backlash for Promoting Movie Amid War

Melania Trump is facing criticism online after promoting her documentary Melania while the United States continues military operations tied to the Iran war. The first lady announced the film’s streaming release on social media, but the timing got backlash from critics and social media users.

Melania Trump called out for promoting her documentary

In a post shared on X on March 9, Melania Trump revealed that her film Melania is now available to stream on Amazon Prime following its theatrical run. “EXCITING NEWS! As planned, my new film MELANIA is launching on Prime following its record-breaking theatrical run,” she wrote. “Now you can gain unprecedented access to my historical journey, and view the never-before-seen footage, all from the comfort of your own home. Enjoy!”

Now, the timing of the announcement got criticized, as President Donald Trump continues military operations against Iran as part of an effort U.S. officials say targets the country’s nuclear program and naval capabilities. Several critics took to the comment section to question the promotional post. Liberal commentator Art Candee wrote, “We’re in a war, and you’re shamelessly self-promoting?” While another user also criticized the move, saying, “Read the got damn room!! No one wants to watch this movie during an active f**king war.”

Anti-Taliban activist Eliza posted a similar reaction. “We’re in the middle of bombing another country, people are dying, gas prices are up, Americans can’t afford s***—and you’re promoting your film? We don’t care about your journey, we want to stop funding wars and afford to live.”

Another user wrote, “NOT THE RIGHTTIME. YOUR SOLDIERS ARE DYING FOR OIL AND YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR MOVIE. JESUS WHAT YOU GUYS ARE REALLY DOING FOR AMERICANS????”

The Melania Trump documentary, directed by Brett Ratner, follows the 20 days leading up to the Trump family’s return to the White House from the first lady’s perspective. The project aims to offer a closer look at her life as she navigates family responsibilities, business, and philanthropic efforts.
