Exciting news for Hannah Montana fans! Miley Cyrus just dropped the trailer and release date for the much-anticipated anniversary special, which she’s been teasing for quite some time.

“Happy Hannah-versary!” Miley shared in a post on social media before revealing details of the 20th anniversary show. The special episode will debut on Disney+ on March 24. Yep, that’s exactly 20 years after the original show premiered on the Disney Channel!
There’s plenty to look forward to in the special episode, not least Miley performing as Hannah Montana for the first time in 15 years. The special episode will be filmed in front of a live studio audience. It will also feature an interview with Miley hosted by Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper.
“[The special] will offer an intimate look at the creation of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters and the lasting impact the show and character have had on fans around the world,” a press release from Disney said of what fans can expect. “With heartfelt nostalgia and fresh perspective, Cyrus will revisit the moments, music and memories that defined an era.”
“Viewers will be treated to never-before-seen archival footage, while some of the most memorable sets from Hannah Montana are brought back to life — including the Stewart family living room and the legendary Hannah Montana closet,” the press release added. There will also be some familiar *notes* that find their way back into the spotlight.”
Unsurprisingly, the announcement of the Hannah Montana special went down a real treat with fans. “I’M GONNA THROW UP,” said @imashleybarks. “Mama, I am emotional,” responded @lhamosa. “CANT WAIT OMFG,” added @jadedley.
Hannah Montana first premiered in 2006 and ran for four seasons until 2011, as well as a movie released in 2009.
