A woman accused of opening fire at Rihanna’s Los Angeles home could face a life sentence if convicted. Authorities say the shooting took place while the pop star and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were inside the property. No injuries were reported, but prosecutors say the incident posed serious risks to people in the area. The suspect has now been charged with several felony offenses as investigators continue to examine what may have led to the alleged attack.
Rihanna’s accused house shooter reportedly charged with attempted murder
Prosecutors in Los Angeles have charged a 35-year-old Florida woman, identified as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, with attempted murder in connection with the shooting at Rihanna’s house. Authorities allege that Ortiz drove up to the singer’s property on Sunday afternoon and fired multiple rounds from a semiautomatic rifle toward the home before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officials say the incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. local time, as per BBC. Although gunfire reportedly struck the property, no one inside the house was injured. Prosecutors said that several people were present in the home at the time, as well as residents in neighboring properties.
Ortiz was later taken into custody after police allegedly located her white Tesla roughly eight miles from the Fenty Beauty founder’s residence at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center. Investigators said assault-rifle shell casings were discovered at the scene of the shooting. Currently, she is reportedly being held on bail set at $10.2 million and could possibly face a life sentence.
In addition to attempted murder, prosecutors have filed multiple additional charges, including ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts related to allegedly shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman condemned the alleged incident in a statement, warning that such acts would be treated seriously. “Opening fire in any populated neighbourhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted,” he said.
Rihanna has not publicly commented on the situation. However, sources told media outlets the singer was shaken by the incident. “Rihanna heard the shots, but was initially confused about what happened,” one insider reportedly said. They added that the experience was frightening, even with security present at the home.
