A former inmate’s recent claims have now put Ghislaine Maxwell’s hygiene and shower practices in prison under the spotlight. The inmate, who goes by the pseudonym Raven Johnson, claims she spent two years around the convicted sex trafficker as she served time at Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee in Florida from November 2023 to November 2025.
Furthermore, Johnson claims Maxwell clashed with staff and inmates and demanded special treatment, while gaining a reputation for her allegedly poor hygiene.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s former inmate reveals her hygiene and prison habits — report
The Sun exclusively published one of Ghislaine Maxwell’s former inmates’ claims about the sex trafficker’s tendency to skip showers in prison, speaking up about her poor hygiene just now. Johnson claimed, “This lady, her sense of entitlement was just ridiculous.” Moreover, she alleged, “Prison staff — they f*****g hated her,” and added, “She filed over 800 complaints in one year.”
Johnson told the outlet that Maxwell’s complaints often brought results, claiming, “She could file a complaint, and things are going to change,” while adding how Maxwell refused to stand in food lines with other inmates. She said, “There could be 50 or 60 people standing in the chow hall line. She’s walked past me several times.”
Per Johnson’s claims, “People just look at her like, ‘Oh, whatever. It’s Maxwell.'” Johnson further claimed about Maxwell’s hygiene, as she said, “This lady worked out every day, but rarely showered,” and added, “There are a lot of bad smells in prison. I can tell you that.”
Additionally, she described a dispute over ceremonial grape juice, wherein she allegedly told Maxwell, “You’re not coming into this kitchen.” Johnson had allegedly told Maxwell, “You don’t work here. I don’t care who you are,” and “You don’t shower. So I highly doubt that you’re going to wash your hands. You’re not coming in here.”
The Sun reported that Maxwell later transferred from FCI Tallahassee to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas, in August 2025.
