Kathie Lee Gifford doesn’t take rejection well. The former co-host of Live! had some harsh words for a long-running ABC talk show. The Daytime Emmy winner recently blasted The View, saying the panellists are simply miserable nowadays.
The criticisms have raised a few eyebrows amongst people working behind the scenes. Reports indicate the producers of The View decided not to have Kathie serve as a guest host on the program. The show has had several fill-in hosts while Alyssa Farah Griffin is on maternity leave.
Kathie recently called the co-hosts on The View “vicious”
Kathie’s scorn towards The View was motivated by her knockback. That’s according to insiders who spoke to Rob Shuter’s Substack page Naughty But Nice. One television expert said that Kathie’s team was “pushing hard to get her on The View.” When producers decided to pass on her, that insider says that Kathie became “vicious.”
Part of the reason she reportedly wanted to come on the show was to promote her upcoming book. According to one insider, though, they weren’t interested in inviting Kathie on the show. “They have lots of people asking for that couch,” the source continues.
Her harsh words for the daytime talk-show aren’t the only backlash Kathie is facing. She is taking heat for criticizing the LGBTQ+ community. Kathie is a devout Christian who previously appeared in her share of Christian magazines. Her new book is called Nero & Paul. It discusses the gospel of grace amid two competing messages.
When it comes to her rejection, sources believe it clearly bothered the former Today Show host. Her brutal words are said to be her way of hitting back at the show. From 1985 until 2000, she co-hosted Live! with the late Regis Philbin. Her new book came out in stores on Wednesday.
