Elle Fanning appears to be a firm believer in method acting. The Sentimental Valuer actress raised eyebrows lately when it was revealed she’d started an OnlyFans account. The network primarily enables account holders to earn money by sharing adult-oriented pictures and videos for a fee.
The prominent former child actress has earned critical acclaim for numerous performances, leading many to wonder why she would be on such a website. She already uses Instagram and TikTok to promote her upcoming shows and movies, among other things. As it turns out, there’s a good reason she was on OnlyFans.
Elle was preparing for a new role
Performers will go to great lengths to portray a new role as accurately as possible. She told People that she started an OnlyFans account so that “I could check out how the website is.” The reason behind that move was to get an inside look into her upcoming role in the show Margo’s Got Money Troubles. The story follows a woman, Margo Millet, portrayed by Elle, who is dealing with financial difficulties after having a baby. Having dropped out of school to care for her newborn, she turns to OnlyFans to support her kid.
Starting up the account enabled the 27-year-old to step into her character’s shoes. One of the showrunners for the program, Eva Anderson, explained that the OnlyFans account offered everyone more insight into that world, which proved invaluable.
That is sure to be one of the many unique experiences Elle has had in her life. In October, she shared that she once spat her drink on someone who was being disrespectful to her sister, Dakota.
Elle’s upcoming show features an all-star cast which includes Greg Kinnear, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman and Nicole Kidman. On Sunday she’ll be up for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Sentimental Value. Margo’s Got Money Troubles premieres on Apple TV on April 26.
