Lil Nas X Smiles on Arrival to Courthouse for Battery Hearing: Photos

Lil Nas X was all smiles as he walked into court on Thursday, keeping a positive demeanor for a preliminary hearing on four felony charges.

Back in August last year, the rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, was arrested for allegedly assaulting and resisting police officers. In footage shared online, he appeared to be roaming the streets of Los Angeles in just underwear and cowboy boots, later appearing naked. He was subsequently arrested and hospitalized for a reported drug overdose.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office later stated that Nas faces three felony charges. These include “battery with injury on a police officer” and “one felony count of resisting an executive officer.”

In widely-shared footage, Nas was seen singing and strolling on the streets in the small hours. He even made eye contact with the person filming his erratic behavior. At one moment, he appeared to place an orange traffic cone over his head. Later, he was seen without his underwear and cowboy boots. He appeared to look completely naked.

Reports from the time of the arrest stated that the incident occurred around 5:50 am, where the rapper allegedly punched a police officer. In their press release, authorities stated, “Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for Battery on a Police Officer.”

Nas pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment. Later, he went to an out-of-state inpatient treatment center. The Old Town Road singer has previously spoken out about his substance abuse issues.

If convicted, he could face up to five years in state prison.
