Thought heartthrob Cillian Murphy couldn’t get any hotter? Well, the Peaky Blinders star may have just increased his female fanbase worldwide. In a new magazine interview, Cillian declared that, “Women are infinite in their wisdom.” And, you know what? He’s not wrong.
Cillian was “raised by my mother and my grandmother”
In an article for ELLE – aptly titled: Cillian Murphy Is in Awe of Women – the actor opened up about his upcoming Peaky Blinders movie. He also spoke about how the women in his life have shaped him as a person.
“Women are infinite in their wisdom,” he said. “I was raised by my mother and my grandmother, who lived with us for all our lives. I [also] have two sisters who are amazing humans.”
Cillian continued: “I’ve always felt that women have a more instinctual understanding of right and wrong and how the world works.”
Next, Cillian elaborated on the sweet relationship he had with his grandmother. “She lived in a granny flat next to our house since I was 4,” he said.
“She was a total matriarch, but she was also an incredibly kind and gentle person,” he went on. “Going into her little flat was a place of refuge. She was very strong, very no-nonsense — but emotionally intelligent and wise.”
Cillian’s respect for his grandmother has clearly helped him in his marriage to Yvonne McGuinness. “Oh man, she’s right about most things,” he said of his wife when comparing his real-life marriage to his onscreen love life.
Unsurprisingly, Cillian’s comments went down a real treat with fans. “The bar is so tremendously low, and yet Cillian is like the only one meeting it,” one person said on Reddit in response to the interview.
“What’s funny is so many of dudes look up to Tommy Shelby when they should be looking up to the man who plays Tommy,” another person said of Cillian’s Peaky Blinders character.
