Three decades after Princess Diana’s tragic death, a former News of the World reporter has apologized to Prince Harry.
In a new Netflix documentary series, Dynasty: The Murdochs, Paul McMullan expressed his remorse. “I spent the last month of Diana’s life just chasing her around the world,” he said. “I can see why Harry hates us. Sorry, Harry.”
The Netflix documentary examines Rupert Murdoch’s media empire. In his time at News of the World, Paul was the paper’s deputy feature editor.
The journalist admitted to understanding “why Harry hates us”

While discussing his work at the now-defunct newspaper, Paul addressed the illegal and unethical practices some staff members used to get stories. Furthermore, he claimed that he got his job by “stealing” photos that were later published in the paper.
Meanwhile, another NOTW journalist, Graham Johnson, spoke about his experience. “I had a contact who’d give me stories on Prince Charles [now King Charles], who was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. She’s the Queen [Camilla] now. So, I knew her inside movements.”
“I went to work for the News of the World because I liked its reputation,” he continued. “It was like the Death Star. The dark heart of the evil empire, and that emanated from the characters who ran it.”
During the massive 1992 phone-hacking scandal that recorded private conversations between Charles and Camilla, Graham claimed that “scores of people were involved. Journalists and private detectives [were] trading unlawful information. They were spending millions of pounds a year on gathering it, and it went on all over the world. It was called the ‘Dark Arts.'”
On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris, while being chased by paparazzi. Unfortunately, her driver Henri Paul (who also died) was later discovered to have had a blood alcohol level which was 3.5 times the French legal limit.
