Spoiler alert, but Q Burdette was the latest castaway eliminated from Survivor 50, and he’s got a bone to pick with the editors, or whoever is to blame for the closed captions. It might be an AI fail. We’re not sure, but according to him, the captions had a pretty significant misquote from Ozzy Lusth during Episode 3’s Tribal Council.
Ozzy Lusth was allegedly misquoted on the Survivor 50 captions
During the latest episode of Survivor, Mike White masterminded Q’s takedown. After a tribe swap, he told Q that he was planning on voting for the always questionable Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick. She was Q’s biggest ally.
Q decided to stick up for Stephenie and told Mike to put him up instead. He was expecting to have enough votes to stay in the game and had a whole strategy in mind. Little did he know, Mike had been campaigning against him, and Ozzy wound up being one of the key votes that sent Q packing. Q felt blindsided by the whole thing.
At the Tribal Council, right before getting his torch snuffed, Q asked Ozzy if he was responsible for the elimination. If you look at the subtitles, it seems like Ozzy replied, “Yeah.” However, that’s where things got mixed up, according to Q.
In an interview with TV Insider, Q said that the closed captions misquoted Ozzy in a pretty significant way. He said that Ozzy actually denied voting against him.
“Ozzy actually said no,” Q said. “I swear. I asked Ozzy, I said, ‘Was this you?’ He was like, ‘Nah.’ And you can see him kind of shaking his head in the episode. If you go back and watch it, he was shaking his head, nah.”
Q reiterated, “The caption said yes, but he said, ‘Nah.’”
According to Q, it wasn’t until he watched the episode on TV that he learned how things actually played out with Mike and the rest of the players who voted against him. He’ll probably watch White Lotus again after this.
Survivor 50 continues on CBS every Wednesday at 8/7c.
