Below Deck Down Under’s Elena ‘Ellie’ Dubaich on Offscreen Drama With Two Castmates

Below Deck Down Under crew member Elena “Ellie” Dubaich is revealing some things we didn’t see on TV.

Ellie came in mid-season as a stew, but she ended up assigned to the galley to support Chef Ben Robinson. When Alesia Harris unexpectedly moved to the interior crew, that left an opening in the galley. Fortunately, Ellie was happy to fill as Ben’s assistant.

However, when Ellie moved to the galley, there was some offscreen drama between her and two of her crewmates.

Specifically, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher and stew Jenna Woudberg objected to Ellie implying that she would have been second stew. They also took offense to the suggestion that someone’s job would have been at risk had Ellie refused the switch.

“I was surprised because I didn’t mean to offend anybody,” Ellie told Us Weekly. “I was simply sharing what happened when I got the call after [stew] Joe [Caron] left.” Viewers may recall that Joe left in Season 4, Episode 1 due to a family emergency.

“At the very beginning, Jenna was not made second stew,” Ellie clarified. “She was told she … had to prove herself that first charter, and then she got made second stew … It was trimmed and simplified.”

Furthermore, Ellie claimed that she would have been second stew if she’d stayed on the interior team. “Captain Jason [Chambers] wanted to have the most experienced leadership team.” she added. “I started working at sea when Jenna was in third grade in 2016. That’s not a dig. That’s a simple fact.”

The Slovenian native added, “It did make sense that Captain Jason would want me to be in a leadership position. [When he] asked me to change, I was happy to change. That’s all I was saying.”

“I was happy that things worked out the way they did,” she continued. “But the way Jenna and Daisy responded was mean-spirited [and] unnecessary. I was taken aback. [It’s] a little bit indicative of how the two of them approached me this season.”

Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams the following day on Peacock.
