Teyana Taylor had more than just an Oscar defeat in the acting category to be irritated about yesterday. The One Battle After Another actress had a battle of her own on the red carpet. Her opponent was a security guard who she did not take kindly to.
“Security was just doing a lot … There’s always that one,” said Teyana. Not long after she joined her One Battle After Another castmates onstage, she was stopped by a security guard who put his hands on her. Teyana did not appreciate this gesture.

From elation to anger. That’s how quickly Teyana’s mood changed at the Oscars on Sunday night. Savoring the moment of winning Best Picture seemed to be overshadowed for her by the treatment she claims to have gotten from security. Video shows Teyana going off on security. As she explained, “I just don’t tolerate disrespect – especially when it’s unwarranted, and it’s unprovoked.”
Teyana recently went through a breakup with Aaron Pierre. Since then, she’s developed a close bond with one of her cast mates from One Battle After Another, Leonardo DiCaprio. In early January, she shared how she and Leo had great chemistry and how she saw him as family.
On Sunday, Teyana was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Perfidia Beverly Hills. The award went to Amy Madigan for the film Weapons. Teyana had captured the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for the film earlier this year.
Although she didn’t get the acting Oscar, it was a victorious night on many fronts for her movie. One Battle After Another took home six golden statuettes for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Casting, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Her next film, 72 Hours, will be released on Netflix and is currently in post-production.
