Teyana Taylor leaps up from seat as fellow nominee Amy Madigan wins at Oscars 2026
Teyana Taylor was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress at the 2026 Oscars for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.” However, the star did not win the award. It was her fellow nominee, veteran actress Amy Madigan, who claimed her first Oscar for her haunting role in “Weapons.”
Despite the loss, Taylor celebrated the win of the fellow nominee by leaping up from her seat and clapping for her, leaving many amused with her response. Even Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas were nominated in the category for “Sentimental Value.”
After the win, Madigan, who was last nominated for an Oscar in 1986 for her role in “Twice in a Lifetime,” credited her fellow actress nominees for their support over the last few months. “When I was doing all the Weapons stuff, I was kinda traveling on my own,” she explained from the stage, per E! News. “And people from One Battle and people from Sinners just kind of gave me a hug and said come on in.”
While Taylor did not win the award, her picture, “One Battle After Another,” swept multiple categories, taking Best Picture and Best Director. However, the actress had earlier won the Best Supporting Actress at the 2026 Golden Globes for the movie. At the time, she shared an emotional message for her fellow “Brown sisters and little Brown girls” watching the event.
She said, per PEOPLE, “Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much.” Further, she added, “Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
