Bill Maher has some blunt advice for the Democrats moving forward. The outspoken comedian believes they have, in a way, become their own worst enemies. The Republicans have beaten them in two of the past three Presidential elections, both of which were won by Donald Trump.
While Donald’s campaigning has long been put into question, Bill thinks that the Republicans’ bitter rivals are continuously hurting themselves with endorsements. Being real often resonates with voters. That, according to Bill, though, is not something the Democrats have done successfully.
Bill Maher says celebs are “not helping” the Democrats
The Democrats need to stop using big names to vouch for them. Those are Bill’s thoughts, which he shared on an episode of Club Random. The Real Time host says that celebrity endorsements are doing more harm than good for the Democrats. “They’re not helping; they don’t strike people as normal,” said Bill.
Bill must feel like a broken record with this warning, something he’s pleaded with the Democrats to stop doing plenty of times before. He thinks they need to rethink their strategy entirely if winning the next election is their goal. According to Bill, Hollywood has become closely tied to what critics’ call woke left. That is a common label in political and cultural debates.
While he had a lot to say about the Democrats, the Republicans aren’t completely blameless either. He believes they have overstepped in Washington, hurting their popularity among voters. A CNN poll in February suggested the President had among the lowest polling numbers for a two-term President heading into a State of the Union address.
At the end of the day, Bill says that both sides need to rein in their extremities if they want to connect with the public. The next election for President takes place in 2028.
