Taylor Swift could make country music history this year, and by one singer’s estimation, she fully deserves it. The hugely successful singer released her 12th studio album last year, entitled The Life of a Showgirl.
For years, Taylor has played to sold-out crowds while taking home countless awards for her music. Earlier this year, she got into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the youngest female artist to earn that honor. An iconic country singer believes the 36-year-old could be in another exclusive class very soon.
Vince Gill thinks Taylor Swift will enter the Country Music Hall of Fame
In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, legendary country singer Vince Gill said that he believes Travis Kelce’s fiancée will soon join him in the Country Music Hall of Fame. “I think they’ll put her in there. Why wouldn’t you?” declared Vince. In 2007, Vince earned that induction at the age of 50, becoming the second-youngest inductee ever.
The eligibility requirements for induction into the Hall’s Modern Era category include having achieved national relevance for over 20 years. Taylor’s first album came out in 2006. Her breakthrough single Tim McGraw was certified double platinum in the US.
Taylor’s ability to captivate an audience has led to numerous documentaries about her. In September, the second season details of the show The Swift Effect were revealed. Vince says she has his vote for the Hall of Fame. “I’m crazy about her. I fully support that,” Vince said.
Johnny Cash and Eddy Arnold are the youngest inductees to enter the Country Music Hall of Fame, both getting in at 48. Taylor could shatter that record later this week. If selected this time around, she’ll be 37 by the time she’s officially inducted into the Hall in Nashville. The inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame will be revealed on Friday.
