David Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham almost had an awkward reunion earlier this week. The pair were rumored to have been estranged for some time … and this was confirmed when Brooklyn recently dropped a string of explosive claims against the Beckham family on his Instagram.
Brooklyn Beckham has distanced himself from his family
According to the Daily Mail, David and Brooklyn’s close encounter happened at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The former footballer had just returned from a skiing trip in Canada with his son Romeo. He then checked into the famous hotel on Sunday night. By Monday morning, David is thought to have left early to film a commercial in Santa Monica. But, later that same day, Brooklyn checked in after attending Sir Elton John’s Oscars party. Onlookers say they saw him relaxing, eating breakfast, and enjoying a low-key day at the pool. David later returned to the hotel for dinner with two celebrity friends.
“David was totally in the dark about where Brooklyn was. [He] had no idea that he had just missed him, not just once, but twice,” an insider said. “Brooklyn also probably had no idea that his father was staying in a room just yards away from where they were having their breakfast.”
Commenting on how uncomfortable the situation could have been, the source said there’s been “absolutely no contact” between Brooklyn and his parents since his dramatic rant on social media. “It is desperately sad, but that is how Brooklyn has chosen to live his life,” the insider went on.
“If fate had intervened and they did come face to face, it would have been very awkward,” the source continued of the father and son’s missed meeting.
