Megyn Kelly Says Melania Trump’s Documentary Is Better Than Any of Its Kind

Megyn Kelly stood in solidarity with Melania Trump’s documentary, saving some of her sharpest criticism for Jimmy Kimmel’s on-stage joke about it at the 2026 Oscars. Kimmel spoke about filmmakers who risk a lot to tell the truth, then added, “And there are also documentaries where you walk around the White House trying on shoes,” seemingly taking a jab at the first lady, and Kelly was not happy about it.

Megyn Kelly calls out Oscars for not complimenting Melania Trump’s documentary

On a recent episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the host reacted to Jimmy Kimmel’s critique of Melania Trump’s documentary while introducing the Best Documentary category at the 2026 Oscars.

His joke did not land with Kelly, who did not hide her frustration with the line. She viewed it as a dig at the first lady’s documentary, saying, “Okay, so he’s got to slam the first lady. Nice.” Kelly then argued, “By the way, her documentary has done very, very well,” highlighting, “It’s pulled in tens of millions of dollars, way more than any documentary of its kind.”

From there, she emphasized how Kimmel could not resist taking a swipe. Kelly noted, “And he’s incapable of even complimenting the first lady or just staying away from her,” adding, “He cannot help himself and got a big laugh from the audience who cannot stand the president or the first lady.” Additionally, Kelly stressed how she disliked the reaction in the room, calling it “disgusting.”

Notably, the documentary has been drawing attention in political and entertainment circles, with supporters deeming it a cultural success and critics questioning the tone and intent behind the film.

Megyn Kelly, in her criticism of Jimmy Kimmel, focused less on Melania Trump’s documentary and its content and more on what she saw as a one-sided moment at the 2026 Oscars. In the end, Kelly believes the documentary’s results speak for themselves, and she thinks Kimmel should have left it alone.
