Rami Malek got some important advice from one Oscar winner to another.
The actor, ahead of the release of his upcoming film The Amateur, out next month, talked to CR Fashion Book about how he handles fame. In the interview, he discussed learning lessons from one of the most famous actors of them all, the one and only Tom Hanks. In their discussion, two words from Tom were all he needed to get his wisdom across.
Tom Hanks told Rami Malek to “be kind”

Rami was asked by Orson Fry of CR Fashion Book about the best piece of advice he’s been given during his career as an actor. For Rami, it was a short and sweet sentiment from one of Hollywood’s most beloved men.
“It’s simple. Be kind,” Rami revealed. “A great actor, Mr Hanks, gave me that early on. Something as simple as that covers all bases.”
Rami won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2019 for his role as Freddie Mercury in the biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody.
Elsewhere in the interview, Rami talked about other actors who inspired his work. “There were so many,” he told the outlet. “I was re-watching Lawrence of Arabia the other day, and I remember falling in love with Omar Sharif.”
“My mother and father told me he was Egyptian, but that didn’t matter. He was delivering on all levels. And was he the typical Hollywood leading man? No. I guess I admire performers who surrender their vanity entirely, these human beings who are just willing to disappear into their work so completely.”
The new interview lands in time for the release of The Amateur, which hits theaters on April 11. You can pre-order the new issue of CR Fashion Book here.
