Donald Trump Slammed for Pearl Harbor Joke in Meeting With Japanese PM

Donald Trump might want to rule out stand-up comedy as a career when he’s out of office. The President is facing some backlash for his attempt at humor in a recent press conference.

Trump sat down with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and reporters during a Q&A session. The President was asked why he didn’t loop Japan in on the United States’ plan to attack Iran. The US, along with Israel, launched air strikes against the Middle Eastern nation late last month.

What joke did President Trump make in front of the Japanese Prime Minister?

The element of surprise is one the President has often tried to use to his advantage. He states this as the main reason that his nation’s ally Japan, wasn’t privy to their plans to attack Iran. Donald dropped another historical tidbit on Thursday that no one saw coming. “Who knows better about surprise than Japan?” he joked with Sanae right beside him. “Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor, ok,” continued the President.

Bringing up past ills between the two countries did not go over well. Over 2,000 Americans were killed because of Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Before 9-11 in 2001, it was the deadliest attack on US soil.

Over a year into his second term, Donald’s mouth has often gotten him in trouble. He recently called out California Governor Gavin Newsom, suggesting he’s not fit to be President because of his learning disability. Gavin’s wife fired back at Donald for those comments.

The attacks on Pearl Harbor caused the Americans to enter the war, vowing revenge on the then-Axis power. The US got back at Japan by bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. While well over 1,000 Iranians have reportedly died since the Iran crisis, at least a dozen Americans have allegedly lost their lives as well.

TELL US – DO YOU THINK THE PRESIDENT’S JOKE ABOUT PEARL HARBOR WAS OFFENSIVE?
