Pete Hegseth Uses Son To Argue for Donald Trump’s War in Iran

Pete Hegseth is bringing his family into the conversation surrounding the Iran crisis. Specifically, the Secretary of Defense mentioned his son in a press conference as one of the motives for the United States going to war with the Middle Eastern nation.

The attacks coordinated by Israel and the US have put Pete and Donald Trump’s administration under tremendous public scrutiny. Many of those working in the White House, however, have backed the President’s actions, saying it had to be done.

The defense secretary isn’t backing down

The US attacks on Iran are more than just business for Pete; it’s personal. On Thursday, the military veteran and Bronze Star recipient shared a conversation he recently had with one of his kids. Pete says that his 13-year-old son asked him about the war and the families he met in Dover, Delaware. His response was that those soldiers “died for you, son, so that your generation doesn’t have to deal with a nuclear Iran.”  He emphasized, “It’s the truth.”

On Wednesday, Pete and the President paid their respects to those American service members killed at a Delaware military base. Six people died as a result of a refuelling crash. Donald and his staff have been under fire for their decision to go into Iran. Pete has drawn plenty of backlash for the Iran war, with Democratic Representative Pat Ryan calling of him to be fired.

Wednesday was the second time that Donald attended a dignified transfer since the war began. There have been a reported 13 Americans who have lost their lives at the hands of Operation Epic Fury. Meanwhile, it’s estimated that nearly 200 US service members have been wounded from that mission. The White House posted a series of photos on social media on Wednesday showing the Trump administration paying its respects.

Pete has seven children, including a 13-year-old son named Jackson.
