There are no words to describe what the family of Chuck Norris is going through, but his son found a few to say to fans. Dakota is one of two children the legendary martial arts expert had with his wife, Gena O’Kelley. He is the fraternal twin of his sister Danilee, both of whom were born in 2001.
Chuck’s family announced his passing on his Instagram account earlier this week at 86. He had suffered a medical emergency in Hawaii.
Dakota posted a tribute to his dad on social media
Judging from his latest Instagram post, it seems like Dakota and Chuck had a special bond. On Thursday, Dakota shared past photos of himself and his iconic dad. In a lengthy post, Dakota calls his father “the man I looked up to my whole life.” He goes on to say that Chuck is the “greatest father God could have ever given me and the finest man I’ve ever known.”
Dakota, who is 24, reflected on all the great lessons the black belt martial artists taught him and the laughs they shared along the way. It is those memories that Dakota says will last a lifetime.
That is just one of the many tributes we’ve seen online from those who knew Dakota’s famous father. Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren were among the big celebrities who honored Chuck online. The two worked with him in the action film The Expendables 2.
The circumstances surrounding Chuck’s death are still a little vague. That said, his family posted on his Instagram account that he was at peace at the time of his death. Danilee and Dakota were just two of the five children that Chuck fathered during his lifetime. Mike, Eric, and Dina were his other kids from past relationships.
Throughout his life, Chuck won numerous martial arts championships before transitioning to a Hollywood career. He later founded his own fighting discipline, Chun Kuk Do.
