The President’s insults at Gavin Newsom are not sitting well with a late-night comedian. On his show, Jimmy Kimmel fired back at Donald Trump, who made light of the California Governor’s disability.
Jimmy spotted some irony in the President’s verbal attack on Gavin. While addressing that controversy, the comedian urged everybody to be the best. That was a direct reference to an anti-bullying campaign begun by Donald’s wife, Melania. Her initiative, entitled Be Best, was started in 2018 during her husband’s first term as President. Its aim is to encourage kindness and responsible social media use.
President Trump mocked Gavin Newsom’s dyslexia
Donald’s remarks against Gavin are being deemed hypocritical. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the outspoken comedian poked fun at the President after the latter had called out Gavin. During an Oval Office appearance, Donald said the Governor was a “low-IQ person,” while also mentioning his learning disability. Because of that, he does not believe that he’d make a good President. Jimmy fired back at Donald, saying, “This is a man who’s posted thousands of misspelled words over the last 14 years.”
The President and Gavin have had a longstanding feud. Donald seems to be getting the bulk of the negative publicity in their war of words lately. In less than a week, the President has referenced Gavin’s dyslexia four times.
Many people have taken issue with the President’s condescending attitude towards Gavin’s condition. The Governor’s wife, Jennifer, recently called out Donald for his remarks. She wondered why Republicans are normalizing the President, while calling him a “vile specimen of a human being.”
For the record Dyslexia is a common learning disorder affecting reading, writing and spelling. According to experts, though, it has no connection to one’s overall intelligence. Gavin is said to be interested in running for the Democratic nomination in the 2028 Presidential Elections.
