Olivia Rodrigo Gets US Government Response After ‘Awful’ ICE Propaganda Using Her Music

The U.S. Government has responded after Olivia Rodrigo condemned their use of her music in their videos.

In November, the Grammy winner commented on a video posted by the government, featuring ICE officers attacking and detaining people. The video featured a snippet of Olivia’s song, “All-American B*tch.” “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda,” Rodrigo commented after seeing the post,” she responded in the TikTok comments.

In response to the pop superstar‘s recent Vogue comments, which doubled down on her response, the Department of Homeland Security released a statement to Billboard.

Olivia told the publication that the video using her music was “awful. Dystopian.”

“The way that ICE is ripping apart communities and terrorising people is so disturbing,” she added. “It’s a really sad, scary time.”

“America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe,” DHS’s statement to Billboard began.

“We suggest Ms. Rodrigo thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice,” it continued. “ICE does NOT separate families. Parents are given a choice to either take their child with them or place them in the care of someone they designate. This is consistent with past administration’s immigration enforcement.”

Furthermore, several musicians have hit out at the U.S. Government for using their music in their propaganda videos without their consent. Fellow popstar Sabrina Carpenter called out the DHS for incorporating her pop track, “Juno.”

“This video is evil and disgusting.” Sabrina wrote in the comments. “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

Similarly, the White House put out a petty response to the artist reclaiming her song. “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country,” a statement read. “Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?”
