Barry Keoghan spoke on SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up” about the aftermath of his split with Sabrina Carpenter and how the internet targeted him. Keoghan said, “There’s a lot of hate online. Barry Keoghan gets honest about online hate
Per Page Six, Barry Keoghan shared that the trolling after his alleged breakup from Sabrina Carpenter started to shape how often he goes out, as he avowed, “It’s becoming a problem,” adding, “I don’t have to hide away because I am hiding away. I don’t have to go to places because I actually don’t go to places because of these things.” He said, “But when that starts leaking into your art, it becomes a problem because then you don’t even want to be on screen anymore.”
Moreover, the Irish actor worries about what his 3‑year‑old son, Brando, might one day see. He said on the show, “It is disappointing for the fans, but it’s also disappointing that my little boy has to read all of this stuff when he gets older.”
Despite it all, Keoghan thanked the many people who do support him. He said, “I’ve been blessed that I have an incredible fanbase and people are so lovely out there, you know?” Additionally, meeting fans in person is a highlight for him, as he revealed, “It’s really nice when you do Q&A’s and you talk to people and you can be there with them and answer their questions and just give them all of you. That is the good side of it.”
Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter reportedly dated for about a year before breaking up in December 2024. A source told PEOPLE at the time that they “decided to take a break” and that “they are both young and career-focused,” but they supported each other’s projects throughout their relationship.
