Production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has been halted following Taylor Frankie Paul’s latest domestic violence allegations. However, that doesn’t mean Hulu is done with the franchise. The word on the street is that they’re currently working on a SLOMW spinoff. It will be a new cast, but probably the same brand of messiness.
SLOMW Season 5 has stopped filming, but a spinoff could be on the way
People got the scoop on the forthcoming SLOMW spinoff, which will take the drama out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Instead, this new show will follow a group of Mormon friends in Orange County, California.
According to sources close to the series, Jen Affleck will be the only original SLOMW cast member to appear on this spinoff. She’ll be surrounded by nine new castmates, who hopefully don’t have any history of domestic violence.
Allegedly, this OC-based version of SLOMW is set to ramp up production very soon. A source close to the series said they were looking to shoot during the springtime. That means they could literally pick up cameras any day now. If you’re in the OC, keep your eyes peeled.
While production ramps up on this SLOMW spinoff show, the future of the flagship series remains uncertain. Insiders say that production is still paused on the show following Taylor’s domestic violence allegations and subsequent PR crisis. Her cast members have tried to distance themselves from her. Meanwhile, an investigation remains ongoing into what exactly happened between Taylor and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. They’ve both been ordered to undergo psychological evaluations.
