The View hosts calls out Donald Trump’s recent celebration
On The View’s Monday episode, the hosts discussed Donald Trump mocking the death of Robert Mueller, the former FBI director, who passed away on March 20, 2026.
During the Hot Topics section, co-host Whoopi Goldberg brought up Trump’s post on Truth Social. His post reads, “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!” One by one, each co-host presented their respective opinions.
Sunny Hostin said that she believed that the president’s comment was “beneath the dignity” of the office of the presidency. She then brought up a recent incident where JD Vance said that any person who celebrates Charlie Kirk’s death should not be “protected from being fired for being a disgusting person.”
Hostin concurred with Vance’s sentiment and said Trump’s remarks were “inappropriate”, especially as the country’s president. She then listed Mueller’s achievements, while also pointing out that he investigated Trump’s campaign, which was allegedly tied to Russia. “He was doing his job,” she added.
Guest host Abby Huntsman followed up, saying that the Republican leader has hit “rock bottom.” Being a Republican herself, Huntsman believes Trump’s certain actions are “indefensible.” She explained that she’s trying to raise kids to be “humble and kind,” despite the country being in a “race to the bottom.”
Ana Navarro spoke next. She slammed Trump, noting his “hypocrisy” of mocking Mueller’s action, when he himself is currently a part of a global conflict. Navarro believes it’s a situation that “we can’t get numb to.” She also blasted the US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent for defending Trump’s post. In a recent interview, Bessent said people should show “empathy” for the president.
“[Trump] is a mean person with a dark heart, verbal diarrhea, and no impulse control,” Navarro added. “But let me just say this: Karma never forgets. He’s 80 years old. He’s got obvious, visible physical ailments. There will be people, when he passes away—as we will all pass away—will write these types of things and celebrate. If you don’t condemn it today from him, you don’t have a right to condemn it from anybody.”
Goldberg wrapped up the segment, saying that Mueller “just did his job,” which led to several indictments, including “some of his own people.” She wondered how the president didn’t have the “decency” to set aside his problems and pray for him.
