Meryl Streep Reveals Anne Hathaway’s Model Demands on Devil Wears Prada 2

Anne Hathaway had a specific stipulation during the making of The Devil Wears Prada 2. According to her co-star from that movie, Meryl Streep, the woman who played Miranda Priestly’s assistant in the first installment of that franchise did not want models of a certain body type for the sequel.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 was filmed with several high-fashion brands, with the cast attending a runway show during Milan Fashion Week. Going to that event for Meryl and Anne was apparently a real eye-opener, prompting the latter to speak to producers.

You won’t be seeing any unusually skinny models for The Devil Wears Prada sequel. Anne made sure of that by meeting with the producers after the Milan Fashion Week shows. In a new Harper’s Bazaar cover story, Meryl says that she couldn’t believe how young some of those models were. She adds that many were “alarmingly thin.” According to Meryl that led Anne to go to producers demanding that this body type not be a part in the movie sequel.

While she was excited to reprise her role as Miranda Priestly, Meryl also admits she felt a little uneasy. Meryl says that paparazzi and hundreds of fans swarmed the set each day. She says that no one in the cast was prepared for that. The first film came out in 2006.

In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Anne becomes the feature editor at Runway, which brings her back into contact with Meryl’s character. The Devil Wears Prada 2 debuts on May 1.

This upcoming film isn’t the only attention Meryl is getting. In January rumors were swirling that the multiple Academy Award-winning actress might be getting married to her longtime friend, Martin Short. The two have been very close for years.
