Usher Claims Diddy ‘Has Been Misrepresented’ as Disgraced Music Mogul Serves Time

Usher hasn’t forgotten about the contributions Diddy has made to the music world. That’s something that may be lost on many people after the rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

For his part, Usher says that he has nothing negative to say about Diddy. Usher adds that his experience with him “was not what the world has seen and how he’s been misrepresented.” He believes the convicted rapper’s contributions helped pave the way for many black entrepreneurs.

Usher said “certain people are prosecuted”

While it feels like everyone is persecuting Diddy right now, Usher is urging people to see the big picture. In an interview with Forbes last week, Usher weighed in on Diddy’s legacy and how his conviction may have permanently tarnished it. “In many ways, I think certain people are prosecuted and maybe not recognized for the greatness that they offer,” said Usher.

Usher appears to acknowledge that Diddy isn’t perfect and has flaws. However, he believes that “many people benefitted from what he (Diddy) created.” For Usher, that’s the person he sees in Diddy. Years before his infamous prostitution and sex trafficking trial, Diddy was among the wealthiest hip-hop artists.

Usher may not have any ill will towards Diddy, but Justin Bieber may be a different story. Reports suggest the two had a heated exchange at an after-party following the Oscars. This was said to have taken place at an event hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

In 2002, Usher launched vanity, a record label subsidiary of Clive Davis’s J Records. Further, back in 2023, he co-founded the independent record label Mega with his longtime friend, L.A. Reid. Diddy is scheduled to be released from prison in 2028.
