An age-old debate surrounding the Twilight franchise is back in the forefront. For years, fans have been divided over whether they prefer Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen or Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black.
On Wednesday, Zendaya and Robert weighed in on the debate between Team Edward and Team Jacob. The Euphoria actress declared she was on Team Jacob. The reporter wondered if Robert was on the other side of the fence regarding that discussion. That got a rise out of Robert, who declared, “No one’s Team Jacob.”
The Edward Cullen actor called Team Jacob “a marketing thing”
The idea that Team Jacob has a loyal following comes down to one thing, according to Robert. In an interview with French station Canal+, he says Team Jacob is purely “a marketing thing.” The French reporter admitted during the interview that she was all about Jacob. That caused Zendaya and Robert to roll their eyes.
Robert has a history of hating the Twilight franchise. In 2019 admitted that he would “mindlessly hate” those movies if he weren’t in them. In recent times, though, he seems to have scaled back those criticisms. Following that 2019 admission, he said that it isn’t even cool to hate that franchise anymore.
Since moving on to other projects, Robert has become good friends with Jennifer Lawrence. The Oscar-winning actress said in October that Robert was like one of the girls. He apparently comes over to her place at times for girls’ nights and gossip talk.
Zendaya and Robert are out promoting their film, The Drama. The film starring them depicts the two in a relationship which takes a sudden turn in the days leading up to their wedding. One partner reportedly discovers some unsettling truths about the other shortly before they are supposed to tie the knot. The Drama comes out in theatres on April 3.
