The View’s Sunny Hostin Responds to Savannah Guthrie Feeling Responsibility for Mom Nancy’s Abduction

Sunny Hostin has come out in support of Savannah Guthrie, following her comments that she may have caused the kidnapping of her mother. In her first interview since the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah expressed her belief that her fame made her mother a target. “I don’t know that it’s because she’s my mom and somebody thought, ‘Oh, that lady has money, we can make a quick buck,” she told Today.

“To think that I brought this to her bedside, that it’s because of me,” she said in an emotional statement. “And I just have to say, I’m so sorry, mommy.” Following the interview, Sunny reassured the fellow TV host on Thursday’s episode of The View.

During her interview with Today presenter Hoda Kotb, Savannah recalled a phone call with her brother Camron. She reflected on her status as a public figure and him: “Do you think it’s because of me?”

Camron responded, ‘Well, I’m sorry sweetie, but yeah, maybe,” she recalled.

Sara Haines, who has worked closely with Savannah at NBC, expressed solidarity with her co-star. “What just kills me is you see a little girl whenever you see her face, and every pain and emotion is something that’s so relatable,” she said on the latest episode of The View.

“I can almost hear her mom saying, ‘Please, don’t do that,” she continued. “That’s the one thing that could break her. It would break her mom’s heart to know how much pain she’s going through, so I hope she can find a little strength through that.”

Sunny joined in the discussion and expressed her lack of confidence in FBI Director, Kash Patel. Previously, the FBI released Ring camera footage of a masked man who was at the front door of the 84-year-old’s home in Tucson, Arizona. However, no major developments have been issued since.

“The worst thing is that she feels somehow responsible. It is not her fault,” Sunny said. “But I can understand why she feels that way because when you become a public figure, you do start to think about your family and how you can protect them.” Additionally, Sunny revealed she has been in contact with the fellow TV host in support. In her new interview, Savannah said her family are in “agony” as they await news about their mother and grandmother.
