Britney Spears is pursuing legal action against a former bodyguard for an invasion of her privacy, according to a new report.
The pop superstar has alleged that Thomas Bunbury, an ex-bodyguard, unlawfully accessed her devices and iCloud account. Britney has filed a cease-and-desist against her former employee, according to the legal documents. If successful, the legal action could prevent the publication of materials Thomas allegedly found on the device.
A cease-and-desist letter was sent

Legal documents obtained by TMZ state the letter, dated last month, accuses the bodyguard of “violating” state and federal laws. Thomas allegedly accessed Britney’s unnamed devices and iCloud account, designed for data and media storage, without her “authorization or consent.” The letter also apparently threatens to report the ex-employee to law enforcement and press charges.
Furthermore, the alleged hacking of the hitmaker’s personal accounts took place after he was fired. The tabloid states Thomas was fired in August last year, before the hacking took place. However, the reason for his firing has not been reported. The bodyguard was approached for comment by TMZ, but were not provided with a statement.
Thomas is reportedly instructed to stay away from all of Britney’s accounts, devices, and logins. Moreover, he is advised to delete any copies of Britney’s personal data that he may possess. These include her photos, files, documents, and most likely, her emails or text messages.
Of course, this is not the troubled singer’s first time pursuing legal action. Most famously, Britney filed to dissolve her conservatorship, managed by her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew M. Wallet. The legal arrangement began in 2008, when the star was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold, as an intended temporary measure.
After a successful legal battle and highly-publicized #FreeBritney campaign endorsed by the public and fellow celebrities, Britney’s conservatorship was terminated in 2021. The move gave the singer full control over her finances, personal life, and creative output.
