FBI Director’s Personal Email Compromised by Hackers Linked to Iran

The FBI Director has fallen victim to a cyberattack. Kash Patel’s personal e-mail was reportedly compromised recently. Apparently, a lot of his work and personal correspondence over the years were hacked.

The group involved in this incident has ties to Iran. Numerous reports suggest the Handala Hack Team are responsible for this. Donald Trump chose to attack the Middle East nation weeks ago, with those who work closely with him calling it a necessary move.

You can add Kash Patel’s name to the list of people who’ve fallen victim to hacking. A Justice Department official is confirming to Reuters the compromise on the FBI Director’s personal e-mail. The news agency says they reviewed a lot of the material on Kash’s account, which reportedly consisted of business and personal messages between 2010 and 2019.

The Handala Hack Team allegedly uploaded all those e-mails. Although the hack apparently took place, it’s unclear as to what actions if any are occuring. There are also no details regarding an investigation into the alleged perpetrators. FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson told Reuters that they have taken steps to “mitigate potential risks associated with this activity.”

Since the American attacks on Iran last month, Kash has been among those drawing his share of public backlash. Kash made a controversial decision ahead of the airstrikes by firing a dozen staff members from the federal agency. The US involvement in the Middle East has many Americans divided on whether it was a smart move.

This recent cyber-attack on him comes with the Iran war still very much in progress. The President claims that successful discussions are happening, but he put an end to that conflict once and for all.
