Donald Trump addressed a developing situation involving Tiger Woods following a recent incident that drew widespread attention. Speaking briefly, Trump commented on the circumstances while acknowledging his personal connection to the golfer and the limited details available at the time.
Donald Trump talks about Tiger Woods after his crash
Donald Trump spoke about Tiger Woods after learning of the golfer’s rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida. Trump said, “I feel so badly [bad]. He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident, and that’s all I know.”
Authorities confirmed that Tiger Woods was involved in a crash on Friday and stated that his breathalyzer result was 0.0, indicating no alcohol use. Deputies observed signs of impairment, conducted roadside testing, and evaluated his condition at the scene. Officers then charged Woods with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test after he declined to provide a urinalysis sample.
Trump reiterated his relationship with Woods, stating, “Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person. Amazing man. But some difficulty. I don’t want to talk about it.” His remarks were made after arriving in Miami, where he said he was only aware of the accident at the time.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said, “DUI investigators came to the scene here, and Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment. They did several tests on him.” He added, “We really weren’t suspicious of alcohol being involved in this case, and that proved to be true at the jail.”
Woods, 50, had recently returned to competitive golf, appearing in the TGL championship earlier in the week. This followed a ruptured Achilles in March 2025 and lumbar disc replacement surgery performed in October at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
