Ray J has recently gotten some positive news in the ongoing Kim Kardashian sex tape settlement battle. For those unversed, the 45-year-old singer has accused Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, of orchestrating the sex tape scandal. Both the mother-daughter duo denied the accusation and instead sued Ray J, aka William Ray Norwood Jr., over racketeering claims in October 2025.
Kim Kardashian reportedly denied to seal settlement agreement
Ray J received some good news in the Kim Kardashian sex tape settlement drama. Kardashian is facing a new setback in her almost two-decade-long legal battle with her ex. A California Superior Court judge has denied the reality TV star’s request to seal a $6 million “confidential settlement agreement” with Norwood related to their 2007 sex tape.
In 2023, Kardashian, her momager Kris Jenner, Ray J, and his mother Sonja Norwood signed an agreement. According to the agreement, neither party must “disparage or impugn the character, reputation, integrity, honesty, business or business practices.”
However, on March 30, the court ruled that the Kardashian and her mother “have not met their burden” to keep the settlement details private. As per Entertainment Weekly, the ruling by Steven A. Ellis stated, “Plaintiffs have presented no admissible evidence that disclosure of the settlement agreement and its terms would cause them any harm.”
Furthermore, the “arguments by counsel” stated that the settlement’s disclosure would not “cause substantial harm” to Kardashian’s “privacy interests” and “private business affairs.” The court deemed these to be “too vague, speculative, amorphous, and unsupported.” However, it was also ruled that the SKIMS founder’s bank account details will not be made public. The ruling stated, “The motions are denied, except as to a bank account number in certain exhibits.”
Previously, TMZ reported that the “One Wish” singer accused Kardashian of lying under oath about their infamous sex tape.
