Whoopi Goldberg has voiced her support for Tiger Woods amid his recent DUI arrest. During the Wednesday, April 1 episode of The View, the comedian and actress commented on Woods’ decision to seek treatment.

“Tiger is a friend of mine, and I wish him nothing but the best,” Goldberg stated. “I don’t like kicking a man when he’s down. I’ll leave that to other folks,” the EGOT added.

Co-host Sunny Hostin also weighed in on the incident. “”I’m not excusing the fact that he was driving while under the influence, but I think we need to show someone who is a sports legend, who may have been pushed very hard as a child, and have some grace for the pain he’s living with and the fact that, as an athlete, he is now having to struggle with the fact that he may have to give up the one thing he loves to do,” she said.

The remark comes just days after Woods issued a statement on X announcing that he is taking a hiatus from golfing to focus on his well-being. “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

Woods added, “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

Furthermore, Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley has confirmed that Woods will not attend the 2026 Masters Tournament. The star golfer has also announced that he will not captain the US Ryder Cup team in 2027.
