During an appearance on Katie Miller’s podcast, Thompson revealed that he is “very close” to Trump and his first wife, Ivana’s, son, Eric. He said, “He’s [Eric] been actually great for me. He’s been like a big brother, mentor, been very welcoming.”

Moreover, he mentioned Eric is the one who encouraged him to develop an interest in the political world. “That’s just someone I would say, especially from, you know, the political government world that’s really put his arm around me and made me, you know, he’s kind of helped motivate me to, like, want to dive into this realm a little bit more,” he added.

Eric Trump runs The Trump Organization as the executive vice president with his brother, Donald Trump Jr. In addition, he also appeared as a boardroom judge in his father’s reality TV show, The Apprentice. The show features contestants from different backgrounds and countries competing by showcasing their business, marketing, and sales skills for the ultimate prize.

In the same podcast, Thompson said he appreciates what Trump has “done so far” for the US and then went on to show his support for his immigration policies. He said, “In terms of where he stands with [immigration], I think… I’m a firm believer because I have family members, and I have people that are immigrants. I believe for those that do the thing the right way and get the papers, I think they should be taken care of first and foremost.” He believes that Trump’s policy is the “right way” to go about the immigration situation.
