Lil Tjay was arrested in Florida yesterday in relation to a fight that happened just hours before Offset was shot. It’s currently unclear if the two incidents are related, but reports suggest Tjay was arrested on the evening of April 6 and booked into Broward County Jail for misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray.
Offset was shot and hospitalized in Florida
Rappers Lil Tjay and Offset did not have the best time over the Easter weekend. On Monday night, Offset – real name: Kiari Kendrell Cephus – was shot outside a casino in Florida. That same night, Tjay was arrested and booked into Broward County Jail, where he was placed on a $500 bond.
Per TMZ, the Seminole Police Department revealed Tjay was involved in a fight prior to Offset getting shot (more details on that in a moment). The outlet reported that a second person was detained at the scene, but has not been charged.
As for Offset, it’s unclear if his shooting has any connection to Tjay’s arrest. Police said an incident took place at a valet area after 7 PM on Monday, outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood. This, according to the BBC, resulted in “non-life-threatening injuries to an individual.”
While the police force confirmed the “investigation is ongoing,” a representative spoke out about Offset’s condition. “We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care,” a spokesperson for the 34-year-old told Variety. “He is stable and being closely monitored.”
Offset – who was previously married to Cardi B, with whom he shares three children – is best known for being part of the hip-hop trio Migos along with Quavo and Takeoff. The group first went viral with their song, Versace, in 2013. Following that, Migos had several Billboard Hot 100 hits.
Almost a decade after their first viral track, Migos split in early 2022. Quavo and Takeoff formed their own duo, Unc & Phew, while Offset pursued a solo career. Months later, however, Takeoff was shot dead at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas.
