Moon Knight‘s Oscar Isaac has finally spilt the beans on his appearance on Hot Ones. In the latest episode of the popular YouTube show, Isaac opened up about the touching reason behind his decision to finally appear on it.
Oscar Isaac did the ‘Hot Ones’ challenge for this reason
Oscar Isaac recently took on the infamous Hot Ones challenge, and it was a move that stemmed from a place of love, loss, and remembrance.
The Frankenstein actor’s appearance on Hot Ones was a heartfelt tribute to his late cousin Ed, who had been pestering him for years to take on the show’s notorious hot sauce challenge. During the April 2 episode, Isaac opened up about Ed’s influence, revealing the deeply personal reason behind his decision to finally give in to the spicy gauntlet.
The T-shirt Isaac wore during the interview held a poignant significance. It was a nod to Hidden Temple Toys, the beloved collectibles shop his cousin Ed co-owned with his wife in Selma, North Carolina. With a heavy heart, the actor revealed that Ed’s passing in a car accident last month had left a void, and appearing on Hot Ones became a bittersweet tribute to his memory.
“He was always like, ‘Oscar, you got to do Hot Ones. You got to do Hot Ones, man,’” the Dune actor shared. “I was like, ‘I don’t know, man. I don’t know if I can handle it,’” he added. However, his late cousin had persistently nudged him to take on the challenge, and now, he finally gave in. The host jokingly said, “Thank you, Ed, for the referral.”
Notably, Isaac has a few releases lined up, starting with the highly anticipated second season of Beef, premiering on Netflix on April 16. The anthology series is back with a new cast, exploring themes of class, ambition, and the complexities of human relationships. He would also be voicing the role of Miguel O’Hara in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse movie.
