Savannah Guthrie was ‘resilient’ when she returned to the show, claims source
Savannah Guthrie’s return to the “Today” show has caught attention. On Monday morning, the journalist took back her seat and left everyone in “awe.” A source told PEOPLE, “She carried her pain with grace, strength, and resolve. It was emotional and inspiring. Her grief is still there, but her resilience is too.”
The 54-year-old went off-air for a couple of months since her mom, Nancy Guthrie, went missing. On February 1, she was reportedly taken from her Arizona home. Since then, the search for her in the alleged kidnapping case has been ongoing.
Meanwhile, Savannah put on her bold shoes and returned to her work. On the April 6 broadcast, she said, “Pretty shot of the sun coming up. Good morning, welcome to Today on this Monday morning we are so glad you started your week with us and it’s good to be home.” Furthermore, she received a warm welcome from her colleagues on air.
Moreover, they also cheered for Savannah on Instagram after the show ended. Carson Daly posted a screenshot of her in a yellow dress, smiling. He wrote in the caption, “Words can’t describe how great it is to have our North Star @savannahguthrie back.” He also praised her, highlighting her bravery and graceful personality.
Furthermore, Savannah’s longtime friend and colleague, Hoda Kotb, also gave a shout-out to the broadcaster. Earlier, the 61-year-old filled in her absence when Savannah was on a break. Before leaving, Kotb interviewed the co-anchor about her mother’s case.
