Congratulations are in order for Aubrey Plaza! She is expecting her first baby – due this fall – with new boyfriend, Christopher Abbott. The happy news comes just over a year after her husband, Jeff Baena, took his own life.

Speaking about the news, which was confirmed by Aubrey’s representative, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE: “They feel very blessed.”
“It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” the insider said.
Aubrey and Christopher have been friends for some time. They first worked together on Black Bear, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020 to critical acclaim. The pair worked together again in 2023, collaborating on the Off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
Although Aubrey and Christopher have kept their romance low profile, it’s understood they didn’t start dating until after she had split from her estranged husband. Jeff took his own life in January 2025, and it was subsequently revealed that he and Aubrey had separated four months before his tragic death.
A Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report later offered more insight into the filmmaker’s final few months. Although he split from Aubrey in September 2024, Jeff maintained regular contact with her … with one phone call even prompting her to request a “welfare check” on him. Since that incident, the report showed Jeff had been attending therapy.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” a representative for Aubrey said following Jeff’s death. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
More recently, Aubrey was spotted at Paris Fashion Week last month. She sat front row at the Loewe show … and managed to keep her baby bump well hidden under an oversized leather jacket!
