Donald Trump declares “complete victory” as the U.S. and Iran agree to a two-week ceasefire deal, pausing the war that started over a month back. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif mediated the negotiations, with the U.S. agreeing to halt its attacks for this period on the condition of reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Iran agreed to the terms, revealing that it will allow ships to pass through the Strait if they cooperate with its armed forces. Apart from the 10-point plan submission, Iran reportedly will halt military attacks until provoked.
Donald Trump reportedly comments on Iran ceasefire deal
In a brief call with AFP, Donald Trump was asked if he considers the latest two-week ceasefire deal a victory for the U.S. To this, he replied, “Total and complete victory. 100 percent. No question about it.” He revealed that they received a 10-point proposal by Iran, which he believes is a “workable” starting point for negotiations.
The president was then asked if he would still stay true to his threats to Iran if the deal collapsed at all. He said, “You’re going to have to see.” Trump also claimed that Iran’s nuclear material would be taken care of under the peace agreement, without providing additional details. However, he mentioned that the main goals of this conflict have been achieved by the U.S. (via Reuters).
Ahead of the ceasefire deal, Trump took to Truth Social to issue a final warning to Iran as the 48-hour deadline approached. He wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?”
The POTUS warned that the whole world might just witness the most significant moments in history. “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” he concluded.
