George Clooney Slams Donald Trump Administration Amid Acting Ability Criticism

George Clooney has called out the Donald Trump administration after a White House official mocked his acting. It came after Clooney criticized Trump’s recent remarks on the ongoing Iran War. In his latest comment, Clooney clarifies the definition of “war crime” and calls for accountability instead of personal attacks.

George Clooney calls out Donald Trump administration

The Oscar winner criticized Donald Trump and his administration after being targeted with personal insults. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney said the situation demands serious debate, not name-calling. “Families are losing their loved ones. Children have been incinerated. The world’s economy is on a knife’s edge,” he said. “This is a time for vigorous debate at the highest levels. Not for infantile name-calling.”

He further reminded the president of the definition of the act he was accused of. “A war crime is alleged ‘when there is intent to physically destroy a nation,’ as defined by the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute. What is the administration’s defense? [besides calling me a failed actor which I happily agree with having starred in Batman and Robin?].”

For context, Trump warned on Truth Social that a “whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran did not agree to ceasefire terms. A conditional two-week ceasefire has since been reported. Clooney first addressed that comment during an event in Cuneo, Italy, hosted by the Clooney Foundation for Justice. “Some say Donald Trump is fine. But if anyone says he wants to end a civilization, that’s a war crime.” He added that political support should not override “a line of decency (via ANSA).”

The White House responded through communications director Steven Cheung, who wrote on X, “The only person committing war crimes is George Clooney for his awful movies and terrible acting ability.” Clooney’s latest statement came after that remark, bringing attention back to the Iran War.

The war, which escalated in late February after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets, has continued with threats, negotiations, and delays.
