Keanu Reeves wasn’t falling for any tricks on the set of Outcome. His co-star on that film was apparently trying to goad the Canadian into uttering the N-word during the filming process.
In the Apple TV movie, Keanu plays Reef Hawk, a damaged Hollywood star who must confront his past demons and make amends with others. In an apparent deleted scene, Roy Wood Jr. tries to trip Keanu up into uttering the racial slur. Roy who plays Reverend Leondrus Carter says all of that was unscripted.
Roy Wood Jr. spoke of his “impervious” Outcome co-star

As in character as Keanu may have been during the production of Outcome, he wasn’t oblivious to the trick Roy tried to pull on him. In an interview with Decider Roy admitted that he tried to get his co-star to say the N-word. “In terms of actually making him slip up and say it—he’s impervious,” Roy added.
Keanu’s character, by all accounts, did a lot of bad things to get in the position he was in. Reef must embark on an apology tour to everyone that he’s wronged in his life in the film. It’s not that he wants to do this, however, but its at the advice of his lawyer, Ira Slitz, played by Jonah Hill. Reef’s lawyer advises him on this because of an unknown video reported to be of him, which could make him unemployable.
Roy portrays one of those on Jonah’s legal team to help change Reef’s image. In his interview, Roy describes his character as “if Deion Sanders were a civil rights attorney.” This opportunity came at an ideal time for Roy, who left The Daily Show in October 2023. The film was acquired by Apple that year.
There are a host of stars in Outcome, including an acclaimed director, Martin Scorsese, making an appearance. Keanu said in an interview that working for the Oscar-winning director was a “magical” and “beautiful” ride. Outcome premiered on Apple TV today.
